2010 Gaslight Gala Auction Items

1)  408 piece Jigsaw Puzzle measuring 19 ¼ inches x 14 ¼ inches depicting a copy of The Strand Magazine cover published in January 1927.  The artwork was recreated and colorized by Laurie Manifold, ASH.  The magazine included the The Adventure of the Retired Colourman.  The puzzle comes with an 8 /12 inch x 11inch framed original drawing by Laurie.

2)  Hand painted habitai silk scarf (washable silk) measuring 35 square inches.  The scarf is a recreation of the Sitting Room, 221B Baker Street by the British illustrator, Ronald Searle interpreted by Laurie Manifold, ASH.  The drawing originally appeared in Punch.  The border of the scarf has Sherlockian initials and symbols including:  violets, gasogenes, lamps and magnifying glasses.

3)  62 square inch hand-made, hand-sewn and hand-quilted quilt designed by Catalina Hannan, ASH.  The fabrics are 100% cotton as is the fine, flat batting (interior filling).  There are five different tobacco-colored prints which are figured with the bee print.  The quilt is bordered with with one dark green print with a difference print on the back.  This green print, along with the green cotton thread which with the quilt was quilted, were chosen to keep the Memory of the Master Green.

4)  Framed needlepoint of Sherlock Holmes titled Holmes on Houndstooth created by Cynthia Wein, ASH.  The needlepoint measures 17 7/8 inches x 16 7/8 inches.  The needlepoint is a silhouette of Sherlock Holmes with a houndstooth background.
